What are some things we do around here?
Preschool/Kindergarten
This group learns through station rotations and large group activities. Various themes are explored throughout the year along with Music, Bible, and early learning concepts. Kids are always moving and discovering in many hands on ways. Kids also explore literacy and numeracy in fun and interactive activities.
Grade 1/2
This group learns through station rotations and large group activities. Supports to literacy and numeracy occur through hands on activities and games in small groups. Kids also explore movement and games in Phys.Ed. and also within the classroom. Special themes are learned throughout the year and Bible teaching is incorporated in different ways as well.
Grade 3/4
This group loves to explore fun thematic units throughout the year. There are lots of opportunities for small group rotation learning along with large group lessons. Music, Phys.Ed, Science, Bible, and Art are just a few of the subjects that kids will be able to participate in. There are many hands on and interactive learning activities.
Grade 5/6
This group involves creative and logical thinking activities, theme based learning, STEM activities, and Bible topics with focus on who kids are in Christ and how they can use their minds and bodies in the ways God created them. There is also Phys. Ed. and Music incorporated. A mix of small group and large group learning also occurs.
Grade 7-12
This group is split into Gr.7/8 and Gr.9-12 for specific learning activities but often combines for Bible teaching each week. Lots of fun activities are incorporated based on various themes and ideas (baking, planning activities for younger groups, reading buddies, etc). Input from the kids helps the teachers create awesome learning and growing opportunities. Our Next Generation pastoral team at Heartland Alliance Church rotates in to teach specific topics as well.
